Asiatic Lion Census 2025 Date Set
The Gujarat Forest Department will conduct the 16th Asiatic Lion Census from May 10 to 13, 2025, in a major step toward wildlife conservation. The department will deploy advanced methods such as GPS tracking, drone monitoring, and direct sightings to ensure accurate data collection.
Hundreds of trained forest officials, volunteers, and experts will participate in this extensive survey, covering Gir Forest and surrounding areas. They will gather vital information about lion population trends, movement patterns, and habitat conditions.
This initiative helps Gujarat strengthen its conservation strategies and ensures the continued protection of the Asiatic lion, the pride of India’s wildlife heritage. Authorities will use the findings to shape future policies and safeguard the species for generations to come.
