Mahavir Jayanti 2025 Update
Mahavir Jayanti, one of the most revered festivals in the Jain calendar, is being celebrated across India today, April 10, 2025. In honor of Lord Mahavir’s birth, a spiritual leader and the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism, various public services have been suspended for the day.
Major metropolitan cities including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, and New Delhi have declared a bank holiday. This step allows citizens, especially those of the Jain community, to participate in religious processions, prayers, and charitable acts marking this auspicious occasion.
Additionally, financial markets are also observing the holiday. Both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) have halted trading operations for the day, resuming normal business on the following working day.
Mahavir Jayanti is not only a time for religious reflection but also a public recognition of non-violence, truth, and spiritual growth.
