Saurashtra Dam Levels Soar
Heavy rainfall has quickly boosted water storage across Gujarat. In just three days, Saurashtra received 508 million cubic meters (MCM) of water. As a result, 15 out of 206 dams now hold over 90% of their total capacity.
This surge in water levels is good news for farmers and residents, especially in drought-prone areas. The early monsoon inflow may reduce water scarcity later in the year.
However, authorities have advised caution. Continuous inflow might cause overflow in low-lying regions. The state government has started close monitoring of all major reservoirs.
With more rain expected, officials are preparing emergency response teams. Weather alerts are also in place to handle possible flood-like conditions.
