Mumbai Attack Accused in India
In a major breakthrough in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks case, Tahawwur Hussain Rana, a Pakistani-born Canadian citizen, has been extradited to India from the United States. The extradition comes after years of legal proceedings and diplomatic efforts by Indian authorities.
Rana, accused of playing a key role in supporting the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist organization responsible for the devastating attacks that killed over 170 people, arrived in Delhi under tight security. His arrival marks a significant development in India’s pursuit of justice for the victims of one of the worst terror attacks in its history.
Indian investigative agencies are expected to interrogate Rana extensively to uncover more details about the planning and execution of the attacks, as well as any other individuals involved.
The Indian government has welcomed the extradition, reaffirming its commitment to bringing all perpetrators of the 26/11 attacks to justice. Legal proceedings against Rana are expected to begin shortly.
