RBI Enforces .bank.in for Banks
In a major move to combat rising digital banking frauds, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has mandated that all Indian banks transition their official websites to the “.bank.in” domain extension by October 31, 2025. This regulatory directive aims to strengthen cybersecurity in the banking sector, ensuring a more secure and trustworthy online experience for customers.
According to recent data, digital fraud in India’s financial sector surged to an alarming ₹14.57 billion in 2024, prompting urgent action. The “.bank.in” domain, being more secure and regulated, will help protect users from phishing, fake banking websites, and cyberattacks.
The RBI’s directive is part of its broader digital safety initiative to enhance trust in digital banking and safeguard sensitive financial information.
